My mother has been on drugs for 14 years. Does anyone know of a program that will help her? and me too. im going thru a lot of stuff taking care of her on my own and giving her money and cigarettes im supporting her and its killing me to see her like this please help because rehab and counselors havent

How old are you? I think you should move out. Is there a family member you could go stay with? Don't support her or buy her cigarettes. She has a problem and you are only enabling her by taking care of her. She is supposed to be the mom and she should be taking care of you! And you are not having the best life you could with her dragging you down. She needs help and you need a happy life. The two don't mix well. Don't ever follow in her footsteps. Please. If you are able to find a different place to live, tell them you would like some counseling for yourself.

You are not obligated to help her get cigarettes or give her money. morally maybe a roof over her head(not fancy, shelter works) and some groceries. No money, it can be used for drugs. It is her obligation to sober up, she has to help herself. I suggest to you ALANON. This will help you use tough love.

Who is prescribing these drugs? Tell the psychiatrist she is being reckless with her drugs and have him put her away for a awhile, she needs to dry out. You are unequipped to deal with this problem, and you are going to be the one in the loony bin if this keeps up. I'm so sorry about your situation, it should not happen to anyone but your mother needs very specific professional help, and you can't keep enabling her. I hope you can find another place to live while your mom gets help. When she gets home, she will have to be watched and her medications will have to be dispensed to her by a responsible person, she cannot be on her own. Good Luck
