Question: Teenage friend with drug addiction?
(Posted by: h on 2009-12-05 13:45:37)
So i have this friend and we have been together since babies and we have been through everything, so like 5 months ago she saw online that sniffing sharpies will get you high, so me and her tried it and for like 5 mins we both felt really dizzy and the room was spinning but then we got really bad headaches so i decided to not do it again, but she likes it and she moved on to other inhalants and then she stole some of her mom's pain meds to get high, she also doesn't sleep much so she takes a lot of caffeine, is this ok or should i help her??, she doesn't have access to weed or anything else cause she is still in high school. this is a re- post cause i didn't get enough answers and i had some additional info = she was bullied since the beginning of her school career and suffered severe depression when she was younger but it was treated, she has since been going to see a child psychologist, but she has only told me this and she might feel uncomfortable if i asked any of my mates to help with this problem, she is now thinking of taking the pain meds again, in her room she has a schedule so her mom can never discover she is missing pills!! please help |

Inhalants are some of the most damaging drugs to do. A diet high in caffeine is very hard on your heart. Now she's stealing her mom's pain pills?? She's obviously not taking the drugs for fun. I'd advise u to put your friendship at risk and first tell her that you want her to stop and get help. If she refuses then u need to tell her mom that her pills are being stolen and abused. BTW, "she doesn't have access to weed or anything else cause she is still in high school "... LOL. EVERY drug is available at high school. |

Inhalants cause irreversable brain damage and opioids (I'm assuming that's what she uses) can cause an addiction that is extremely hard to break, and become a very expensive habit. Eventually, she'll need something strogner than what her mom has and when you need to take 3 OC80's a day you're spending thousands of dollars every month. As her friend, you need to tell her to knock it the fuck off, because her habits are hurting her more than she's helping herself. Now, this may seem controversial, but I think she should start smoking weed. If she's going to be doing drugs at all, it's at least better to be doing weed. It's much safer than inhalants and narcotics, and she I'm sure DOES have access to it. I'm in high school and I know at least 5-10 kids that I could get weed from in my school, and I live in the suburbs. It will definately help her stress and anxiety. |
