My drug addiction help?

Question: My drug addiction help?

(Posted by: Beeritnaaayyy. on 2009-12-28 20:13:23)

I'm 15. I'm having a really hard time staying sober. I recently overdosed on pills Triple C's or Coricidin Cough and Cold. I've been sober since the night of my overdose which was 4 weeks ago. I have been to rehab Tarzana Treatment Center in Lancaster, California. I only lasted there 8 days before i got kicked out. I'm tired of disappointing my friends and family and being dependent on artificial things. I know i should not be alive right now. I was so close to dying. Call me crazy but when i was on the Coricidin i actually saw myself in the hospital bed die and they couldnt do anything to revive me. Some of the drugs i've done are: vicodin, morphine, acid, pot, coke, Xanax, Esctasy, and many others. Does anyone have advice for how i should continue my life sober? please nothing about God. thank you.

Change your lifestyle. You are too young to have used ALL those drugs. If you want to die then keep it up. If you want to live... stop.

When you get really tired of this-make a promise to yourself and to God to quit- and do it. The reason you need to include God in this is cause by the time you get serious-you may not be ABLE to stop. Then you'll have to do things His way-and you may not want to. No matter how bad life is-it can get worse. No matter how good life is-it can get better. At least if you know God-cause He is the Creator of joy-and He knows how to bring it, even when life sucks. But it takes time when you've made years of mistakes. None of those drugs can bring what you are looking for. When you get tired of trying-He'll be there to hear you. Dont wait till you're flat on your face cause sometimes healing takes time.

Addiction is a disease in the body as well as the mind. best thing i can tell you is go to an NA meeting (narcotics anonymous) and connect with God. Learn the serenity prayer and practice it. get a sponsor and work towards being sober. good luck..:) hope i helped :)

I hate saying this so much because I feel like a preacher but with a problem as serious as your own, you're gonna need a higher power to help you through it. Im not saying God... but a higher power. Try it and good luck. God= a higher power so you might want to try him.

You've obviously done your fair share of drugs, as have I. The easiest way to start living your life sober is to make new friends. Seriously, this is probably the most important thing you can do for yourself. Once you officially stop doing drugs you'll find that most of your "friends " will fade away. So, do yourself a favor and go to an NA meeting now. I found it to be really enlightening. Whatever you do, don't go it alone. Find some help. whether it's a meeting, seeing someone who specializes in drug addiction, or a different rehab or outpatient program. And be prepared to fight your drug addiction. It's an evil monkey, lol. Best of luck.

Not to say any of the other posts were bad, but some people don't believe in god or divinity for that matter. If this is the case wit you, mate, then I would suggest something else. Try NA, but know that like AA they try to push religion. If that's not for you, try counseling. Try to find why you use drugs. When I did it it was because I was bored. I learned that on my ow and took up bowling. Maybe take some after school activities. Join an after school club. Start your own club. Like another poster said, don't go at it alone. Get support from your parents and friends who don't use. Try to stay away from the friends who do use when they are using. If you feel the urge to smoke a joint or snort a line or whatever, try writing about it in a journal. Write how you feel and why you wanna use. That's how I figured out when I was most likely to use. Other than that I can only say good luck and admitting you have a problem and want to correct it is the hardest part.

I've been addicted to opiates on and off for over 15 years. It's extremely tough to get off them. But, I know in my case I'm using them to self-medicate my depression (they work; and none of the antidepressants I've been on do). I feel like I have a whole inside me and opiates fill it. I don't know you but it sounds like your problems may be more than addiction. NA and addiction programs are good, but once you get rid of the drugs you need something to replace it with. Is there some health passion you have or maybe you can discover new ones. Also, I use because I have low self-esteem. I'm working with a therapist on that. It might be a good idea for you to see a counselor (not so much about the drug use, but more about why you feel so bad (I'm making an assumption) without them. Good Luck!
