Question about hospitals and drug withdrawal?
I am writing a book where the main character develops a relationship with a drug user.Anyway, what I want to know is, if an addict were taken to the hospital for unrelated circumstances while under the influence and was treated for moderate to severe injuries, would the addict not experience withdrawal since they were being treated for pain? or would they withdrawal after the pain medication was lessened? Or would they continue to withdrawal through the pain medication? etc. I have no personal experience with this and have been unable to find any information that is helpful. If anyone has had personal experience with this or medical experience, etc, it would be very helpful. thank you

Should I phone for an ambulance / go to hospital - drug withdrawal - help?
Im considering driving to my local hospital because earlier and now, i keep freaking out. Im wondering if its because i took ecstasy about 2 3 months ago. I keep getting really confused as to whats going on, my face tightens up, and i get paranoid, my heart was racing big time, time seems to go faster, and basically i was really paranoid. Its like I had taken ecstasy. I guess these could be withdrawal symptoms. alot of major changes have happend recently in my life, but maybe its a combination ? i basically got really confused as to where i was, what i was doing etc.....yeh i did have a bad high when i took it, it thought i was going to die at one point...... but that was when i was getting the rushes

Can you get hardcore drug withdrawal symptoms again without doing hardcore drugs?
This sounds crazy and sorry if it makes no sense i'm just really sick right now. I used to abuse drugs a lot, anything i could get hold of, legal, illegal, didn't matter. I was always drugged up on something. I abruptly stopped in may 2007. If i didn't i wold have failed university. The next month was absolute hell. I was really ill for a week and felt like i was dying without the drugs because i was so dependant on them. puked so much that all that was left to puke was blood and stomach acid, bones ached so hard that i couldn't move, etc. but i got through it. i refused to even take allergy pills even though i have suffered from dust allergies since i was a baby. i don't even drink tea or coffee or energy drinks when i'm not doing drugs because get too dependant too quickly. any ways i graduated last year and have gotten a full scholarship for my PhD. Now comes the issue. i have slowly started 'needing' prescription drugs for various things, the prescription is now on 8 items a month, but the amounts only last me a week now. i also began weed. i saw that i was slipping into my old ways and decided to stop everything before itgot out of hand. i didn't think it would be too difficult, i never relapsed into heroin, crack and E or anything. well the withdrawel is just as bad as before and it's killing me. i can't go to the doctor for medicine to stop me from feling sick because i'll just go abuse that too. i will not go to rehab, i am far too busy with university. is it possible to have such bad withdrawels from just legal drugs? it certainly feels as bad as last time. what can i do to get through this? it's been 6 days without anything.

Can you die from combined drug withdrawals?
My boyfriend of 11 months did ALOT of drugs in his past. He was injured when he was in high school playing football. His doctors put him on opiates for his pain, but he became addicted. Soon, it went from just the prescriptions to the illegal drugs. He was doing every drug known to man all at the same time... He cleaned up though, but he still is fighting the addiction. He's been fighting it for three years now, and his withdrawals have only gotten worse... He's in Alot of pain, and cant breathe well. I told him he would be fine, but he says all the drugs he did over the years really messed up his body and that's why he's like this. He said he isn't afraid of dying, and that he wouldn't mind going. Anyway, I just wanted to know if his drug abuse from over the past 10 years can do this much damage and if he will make it or if he really has a chance that he could die from this. Please help, I realldon'tn't want to loose him, but if he has a chance at dying i want to be able to prepare myself for it...

Can you feel drug withdrawal without being addicted?

Seizures maybe caused by drug withdrawal?
Okay well first off, I wasn't addicted to any of the drugs I have done so I know its not from a drug addiction..I will start with a little history so you can fully understand and be able to answer easier.I started doing drugs when I was very young 13 and the first drug was mushrooms, I did the off and on once a month not exceeding 3x a month for about a year, 14 then I started smoking marijuana about once a week, sometimes more depending on the availability, for almost 4 years. after about a month after starting I kinda stopped doing shrooms once every other month or every 4 months . 15 I then tried coke twice and decided after the second time that I didn't like it all to well. I then tried ecstasy 15 1 2 and did it quite frequently every weekend or every other weekend for 6 months. I stopped for about 6 months and then resumed once a month untill age 17 1 2. When I turned 17 I went on a mushroom binge mostly every day with the occasional every other day that lasted 4wks and I haven't done any since because I noticed a change in my behavior and personality It took me 2 months to get back to my normal self, but at least I came back right P . I then stopped smoking pot to just get high at age 17 1 2, I started using it to help my bi polar disorder so I only smoked when I got anxiety or when I needed stress relief and I didn't smoke to the point I was really high like I used too meaning I only took one or two hits depending on how strong it was . I'm now 18 almost 19 and I haven't done any drugs for almost 3 1 2 months and I plan on keeping it that way because I needed a change in my life I even moved to a different state to get away from it .Now in the past few weeks every day I started to jolt out of sleep, kinda like a falling dream but a little more extreme. And for the past 2 days either right as I start to fall asleep or right when I wake up I've had seizures that last for maybe 7 seconds..My boyfriend said that it maybe from drug withdrawal since I haven't done any in so long and because I didn't ween myself off I just stopped..What do you think?P.S. If I have another one I'm going to see a doctor, I just want to get your opinions on this. Also, I don't want to read people just giving me crap about my life and the choices I've made including stuff like " Oh my, Where were your parents?" It's none of your business, nor your right to judge me. Only God can judge me..By the way, I thank you ahead of time for at least reading this, even if you have no answer to give. Nicole

Can you have symptoms of drug withdrawal after only a month and if not what could this be?
Hi, me and my friend have been taking certain prescription drugs like Oxycontin, Hydrocodone, and Vicodin, a few times a week for about a month. We also drink not with the medication and smoke weed. A couple days ago after a night of binge drinking we both got really sick, and ever since then we have been nauseous, shaky and overall just felt like crap. It's been a few days since we've taken any pills. Also, if you're going to judge or be crappy just don't answer. Just wondering if anyone knew what was going on. Thanks everyone

I just love to fake seizures! What do they call seizures from drug withdrawal?
When someones having seizures and they can't find a epileptic origin, they call them pseudoseizures, or psychogenic seizures, and label the patient with some imaginary label like " conversion disorder" .The general belief among these extremely competent doctors lol , is that these fake seizures are caused by emotional distress, anxiety, and psychological issues. So, heres my question. Lets say someone is a heavy benzo user, they also drink alot, and use other drugs like amphetamines, DXM, and cannabis.Benzo and alcohol withdrawal have been known to cause seizures. But they can't call them epileptic seizures. So if there not epileptic seizures, then what do quacks diagnose them with other then " psuedoseizures" , " psychogenic seizures" , or " conversion disorder" etc.?Obviously the seizures come from a biological origin, which would be drug withdrawal, yet many quacks deny drug withdrawal could cause seizures, and blame emotional issues, then diagnose them with something like " psuedoseizures" .Which is entirely wrong, and dangerous for them to give that diagnoses to someone who could die from fatal benzo alcohol withdrawals. This happens all to often, and I admit I was one of these people this happened to.It angers me, and Ive lost any trust Ive had in the medical field, pretty much any doctor hospital ive been to has treated me unbelievably rude, misdiagnosed me, talked to me condescendingly, treated me like a animal, and shown a extreme amount of incompetence.Point is, what is the correct word for a seizure caused by certain drug withdrawal? Its not a epileptic seizure, and its not a " pseudoseizure" , or " psychogenic seizure" either. So what do they call it? I believe the medical community doesn't even have enough competence to have a name for it.Yes, Ive heard of DT's, but these are generally only for alcohol withdrawals, and do not describe full blown seizures.Im talking about seizures where you have intense convulsions, you can't move or feel your body, you get so numb, you could be stabbed with a knife and not feel it. Where your only partially conscience, yet still shaking though. This would be looked at as a very severe partial complex seizure in a epileptic. By the way, Id like to point out EEGs are not accurate. Epileptics have been diagnosed with psuedoseizures, and vice versa.Very funny, I really do just love faking seizures, because I just love malingering around doctors.Yep you got me, my motives are just that. Im like a little kid who just wants attention from doctors.

Can you get a bloody nose from any drug withdrawal?
My boyfriend has a history of drug abuse, but he is currently in rehab. He gets drug tested twice a month, and he swears he isn't abusing anymore, but he's had two horrible bloody noses in the past week. I would like to know if there is another reason beyond drug abuse for the bloody noses.

Can fever be a sign of drug withdrawal (crack, coke, etc)?
my friend seems to get a fever all the time. he goes out and parties every other day or every couple of days and it seems like the next day or so he always has a fever and is sick. im thinking he is doing crack, since he spends a lot of time with a known crack head. but what i am wondering is a fever a sign of coming down or withdrawing from speed? i know fevers can be dangerous and i just don't think it's normal for someone to have so many fevers. he will never admit to doing the drugs and i don't know how to help him.ps wasn't sure what category to put this under...sorry
