Heroin Addict: Methadone Detox Facts

Question: I am a suppressant or and heroin addict (i suppose).what can i do?please,no offensive answers,im oversensitive?

I hated depressants. I tried heroin at 21, i am 26.I never drove off the board, i always snorted it. Occasionally i swallow several ~pam pills. Lexotanil, xanax etc, but never combine them with H. I get stuck when I am in my home city but when I leave to the other city I live I am a different person. However whenever Iget back to motherland the first thing I do is to snort some H. It feels so nice that I cant avoid it. Then I leave again and I go on with my normal life. In other words, i flert with H for some days and then leave for some months and become a human being again. I had once or twice suffered from cold turkey. H is always in my mind though. That feeling... How can I get rid of it? Please answer only if you have something essential to say from experience, and dont bother to answer if you never tried H. I feel terrified in a way Thank you.

First off, I just want to say I've been addicted to heroin for the past 2 and a half years now and now am in a semi recovering stage through suboxone. I always shot, never snorted, and the fact that you at least haven't tried to shot up yet is a positive-because that's it when you do. Everything spiraled out of control so incredibly fast for me that I didn't even realize how bad I was until I was already too far gone. People would tell me to slow down but at that time my parents didn't know, funding the dope wasn't an issue and I wasn't in legal trouble; I had no reason to stop. I'm glad you realize that you need to chill a little while you can still easily get it under control. I mean if you're just snorting dope every few days or whatever, and have been doing that for a long time then things might never get crazy for you. I went from shooting a bag just on the weekends to doing it 2x a day within a month, it happens so fast. Also, have you developed a tolerance? I used to could just do one bag and I'd be out and now I have to do at least 5 in one shot, and that's just ridiculous. I don't know if you've been using every now and then since you were 26 or just started back or what but if you've never had to increase your dose in a long period of time then you must not be doing too much. I had friends that started doing dope with me at the same time and they never got hooked, they still can just do it when they want. If you're an addict, there is no break, it's dope 24/ 7. You may have just not gotten to that point yet but you seem to have a fairly good control of what you're doing. Just let me tell you one last thing, I've met a good deal of heroin addicts/ users in all of my rehab stints and such and the really strung out people are never ones that snort, it just seems like snorting is less addicting than shooting, I mean it's a whole different ball game. My point is I think you've got it under control if you don't start shooting. Well anyway, good luck!

My friend is a drug counselor and also a recovering heroin addict. Heroin controls you. The only way for it not to control you is to quit for good. Its probably not want you want to hear, but that is the nature of the beast. If you want to quit for good and are having trouble doing it on your own, there are treatment centers that specialize in heroin addiction. Some of these places can also offer medication to make the withdrawls easier. It really depends on the facility. I don't know where you live, so I can't make any suggestions. If you have a United Way or Social Services office in your area, they usually have a good list of referrals. Good luck.
