Question: Can heroin addiction interfere with a woman's period?
(Posted by: we take to the breeze... on 2009-02-27 17:48:36)
My girlfriend has been using heroin intravenously for about 7 months and has stopped having her period for about the last 3 to 4 months almost. She has even taken a pregnancy test that came up negative which makes me wonder if it has anything to do with the heroin. Any info helps, thank you. thanks for the answers everybody it helped alot and we are getting help and getting clean. I know its no way to live...its a way to die. thanks again though! |

Regular use results in constipation, loss of sexual interest and libido, and an irregular or stopped menstrual cycle in women. Get her off of that man, it will do a lot worse than mess up her cycle. |

All narcotics cause a chemical imbalance in women. |

It could, especially if she's lost weight. Anything that messes with woman's body chemistry can screw up her period |

Sure does. It affects the hormonal system and if abused enough can stop a woman from menstruating. If she takes it long enough she may never be able to have a baby. But honestly in my opinion that would be a good thing |

In my experience, drug addiction interferes with just about everything you can think of with respect to a person's physical, mental, emotional, and psychological state. A woman's menstruation cycle is especially sensitive to drug addiction, but then again being on heroin may cause her to show a false negative on a pregnancy test. You should probably get your girlfriend (and then yourself) some help whether she's pregnant or not. Heroin addiction is no joke. Go to the clinic and arrange for state funded drug rehab. |

Yes it does effect a girl from having their period, I was talking to this girl that was doing heroin (which i didn't know about till the end) but she kept complaining that she was not getting her period and thought I got her pregnant and eventually she admitted she was doing heroin and we found out that's why she was not getting her period |

Yes it sure can. I would be more concerned with her heart stopping vs her period. |

Yes. my very first serious girlfriend ended up on heroin. She wouldn't get her period, then she would bleed for weeks or have a 'dry' period with only dark clots and no flow. It trashes your whole system. Dude if you care about her you gotta get her in rehab. Heroin WILL kill her, and before it is all over she'll do some really bad things and hurt a lot of people. Don't let her fall so far down that she humiliates herself. Get her in a rehab. |
