Even the professionals can't always break addiction, because of the physical and psychological factors. stopping cold, very painful, he just needs to go to a clinic... |

It sounds like you want this more than your addicted friend, and that's not going to work. Your friend needs to really want this, and although you could be of some help possibly, you would probably juts wind up getting manipulated by this person. Heroin withdrawal is pretty bad, like the severest flu you ever saw, and the initial withdrawal lasts about 3-6 days, but they won't die from it. There are lots of meds that can help take the edge off and provide a little sleep. The success rate and recovery times vary greatly depending on a wide range of factors, but unless you have experiences H addiction, you probably really don;t stand a chance at helping your friend. A rehab would probably be best. Good luck. |

Your friend has to make the first move. Your great intentions will not work unless he is ready. Please keep in mind that heroin addicts are master manipulators. I don't know how long he's been using or how large his jones is so not sure what it will take. But I do know that he will need an incentive that only he can find. It has to be bigger than his addiction. |
