Question: I've been clean but why do i still feel like i'm going through heroin withdrawal?
(Posted by: ck on 2009-02-16 21:40:58)
I've been off heroin and suboxone for almost 2 weeks now, and i've been feeling fine and normal for about 1.5 of those weeks. then last night and tonight i'd fall asleep then wake up 2 hours later, feeling like i was going through withdrawal. my body just feels really uncomfortable and can't lay still because i feel like i just need to move around. why is this happening? is this normal and am i just relating it to my withdrawal??? |

I read this book that pretty much said that you never get over the addiction. I personally don't know anything but maybe reading the book I read could give you a bit of insight to your problem. It is entitled Tweak by Nic Sheff. It is a memoir of this guy's life overcoming drugs. Good luck. |

Drugs mess up your brain so you will have weird things that come up for a long time. Just concentrate on staying clean. |

Your going to feel this way for a couple of months. The restlessness and the feeling of having to kick under the covers will subside soon but the ability to sleep thru the night; WOW that takes awhile! You may want to go to doctors and get a sleep aid but try not to take it every day so that you don't get dependant on it, really. Hey you've gotten past the really hard part(vomiting-diareaha)just hang in there it gets better(really it does). Don't even think you can chip on weekends either it don't work like that! Once you've had a habit its way easier to catch it again and it don't take no time, This is a FACT! |

Were you taking the full 28g and then stop cold turkey? I understand it's better wean off it for about a month. You may actually be feeling Suboxone WD, it has a long half-life so what your feeling now is consistent with WD. I'm a recovering addicted but didn't use H. I know from NA that you might be feeling pure torture right now and feeling insomnia, restlessness, lethargy, anxiety and like you totally can't function. I understand there is a pretty heavy mental wd as well. A lot of folks go through it cuz their out of physical danger even though may still be in physical discomfort, Also, there are only certain Dr's that can prescribe it - so is there a way to contact him/ her? I wish I could be more helpful because I think Suboxone WD lasts longer than just a few days like that of an opiate. Whatever you do, don't use. You have come this far. Try to get to an NA meeting and try to contact your doc. Good luck. |

Research shows that you never completely get over an addiction and that the "withdrawls " come and go depending on the day that you've had and your surrounding At times you can have these feelings for two to three years until finally it subsides |
