Withdrawal from heroin should never be done alone without the help of a doctor. You can safely be weaned off of it without the withdrawal symptoms. Each individual is different when it comes to how long it will take. Congratulations for making on of the best decisions you have made in your life and good luck to you!

It depends on a couple of factors. If the person is really looking to get clean, then they usually will go to rehab where they will be given new, less severe drugs to help them get over the addiction. The user has to be fully willing to let go of the drug though because heroin is so addicting, it is very easy to get back in the habit. If your talking about the actual withdrawal part where the person gets sick, it can be days, or even weeks. As far as a the time it takes for a person to be fully clean, that could take months, even years to totally kick the cravings. For a lot of users, its a long battle.
