Am I going to withdrawal from methadone if i have only taken it for 7 days?
I have been using heroin off and on for 2 years but recently i have been using regularly for about the last 4 months. I tried to quit cold turkey from heroin a couple weeks ago but with my mind state at that time i could not get through it. 7 days ago I started a 21 day methadone treatment but the more i have researched I have found that methadone is almost as bad. I do not want to be on anything or just substitute heroin for methadone. I told the doctor that i wanted to stop and to detox me off. I started at 60 mg and every 2 days went down 5 mg. So today I was supposed to be taking 45 mg of methadone. After talking with the doctor I decided to rapidly detox by taking 20 mg today instead of 45mg and i am taking 10 mg tomorrow then i will be off. My question is am I going to have as bad of withdrawals as heroin or will i even withdraw at all because It has been 7 days so the heroin is out of my system and I have only taken 7 days of methadone so I don't think I can become dependent that fast on methadone. If someone could answer my question that would be great and if I am in for a horrible withdrawal like from heroin does anyone have any tips?I am sorry if you got the wrong impression from what I said. I know methadone helps a lot of people to stay clean and to be able to go to work and live without using or hurting. In that scence i have nothing against methadone. As far as what I am trying to accomplish is to not be on any substance what so ever. Methadone though may help a lot of people is not good for your health and there are many restrictions that go along with it. Also the longer one is on methadone the more dependant one gets and will be harder to get off in the long run. I have been told by all the people in the clinic as well as the doctor that no matter what i am going to withdrawal either at the end or if i stop now. I would rather get it over with now before my semester of school starts and get on with my life.
How will i feel when i start getting farther down on my methadone detox?

Switching to suboxone from methadone how rough is it?
Just looking for a little quick advice about my switch from Methadone to Suboxone from anyone that has been through the same thing or any experience with it. Have been on methadone for the past year at 30mg then weened down to 5mg and took my last dose last monday. The earliest I could get in to see the suboxone doctor was wednesday, tomorrow. So i had to wait about 8 days. I have been using opanas this week to get by and i got a suboxone saturday to use. I know I have to be in withdrawals at my appointment but i got an Opana 40 this morning and just finished it off. My appt is at 1 45 so that gives me about 18 hours do you think I will be alright and they will go me my Suboxone? Also I have only used Suboxone a handful of times so not too familiar with it's effects over long time usage? I know it helps with the cravings but do you also have the buzz from other pain killers so you have no desire to use whatsoever? I'm 21 year old male and was using oxys for about 2 years anywhere from 80 a couple hundred miligrams a day. Then i got introduced to opanas about a year ago and was doing 1 2 opana 40mg pills a day so on average 60 80mg. This is the same time i started on methadone also so i was doing methadone and opana daily. Switching from using oxys to methadone and opana together has really up my tolerance which im sure is obvious. Just any insightful info about the transition from methadone to suboxone and what to expect would be much appreciated? also what dose do you think i'll be started on? FYI im currently prescribed 40mg of adderall instant release a day for a little more background info.Keep your judgmental comments and any jack advice to yourself about how i'm a junkie or ruining my life with opiates please. Heard it all before. Thanks in advance for all your help
How long should I wait after my last dose of methadone to start suboxone?
I have went down from 85mg of methadone to 17mg of methadone at a rate of 4mg per day. It has been 24 hours since my last dose of 17mg and Im already feeling the w d setting in. I know they say to wait 3 days once you are down to 30mg of methadone but if I have tapered down to 17mg would I still have to wait a full 3 days? Please only answer if you have experience with suboxone. Because I have experienced precipitated W D in th past and never want to feel that again. Thank You.
How do I help my husband whos coming off methadone with the withdraws? ?
Ello. I was wondering what I could do to help my husband whos quitting methadone. What happen was back in August our son was born two months early. Due to the high stress that came with that he relaps and started to do heorin again. Around Christmas he came and told every body that he had messed up and needed help. His family member helped him by taking him to a clinic where they offered methadone. Hes been there for maybe a month now. This morning something had happen and the lady refused to give him his daily dose. So he left and decieded to just go cold turkey. Now Ive never done drugs or known anybody who has. I just know that coming off this is very long and painful. So my question is what should I expect in the next while and what can I do to help and be supportive? And is there any home remedies or something I can get at store to at least try to help with the withdraws pain.Any advice would be so helpful. Many thanks in advance

How can I help myself get off injecting high doses of morphine, without using methadone, suboxone ect ? ?
Should I stop my methadone treatment, your advice would be greatly appreciated?
Here is the thing, I am an ex drug addict, I was a pretty bad user, started pills when I was 18 from a chronic pain condition called endometrosis but I have been sober or clean from heroin and pills for 2 years about....I got on methadone treatment about 2 years ago. I am living with my friend who is into natural medicine and is against methadone. I know that methadone causes some stuff like i heard it depletes the calcium in the bones over time, and it's REALLY hard to get off..I know I tried before. But I don't want to be on it for the rest of my life. I am 27 and I'm on 105mg a day.My roommate says I should get off because1. it prevents me from going living anywhere that doesn't have a methadone clinic nearby.2. I have to go almost everyday to the clinic.. I'm on phase 2 which means I can have 3 take outs a week, and I will be getting my phase 3 soon. 3. He's worried about the calcium thing.4. Also he thinks I will die from a liver thing or slow breathing in my sleep. Those are the main things he is worried about, but the things is..I have been on it for about 2 years and I have not had a dirty UA since getting on the methadone. It's has been helping me..Also it really is hard to get off.5. I had an EKG done and my QT levels are off....but my methadone doctor said he sent the results to a cardiologist and he said the heart waves on the paper looked fine...He called my primary and said it was alright...but it still makes me a little worried.I have heard of this treatment called. Ibogain? It supposedly helps people get off opiates, and it addresses the withdrawal that would come with stopping it.I know I don't want to be on it forever but....it's helping me right now....what do you think?Thank you.Wow, thank you J Miller for your answer, you know alot about this subject..as should I. I have been reading up on it...but some of the sites I have been to are vague and say stuff that isn't necessarily true. That's why I wanted other opinions and facts from people who know what they are talking about. Thank you for replying to my question. I really don't feel ready to get off....but my friend has been pressuring me....just cuz he thinks it 's a bad thing to be on it for a long time....but then what does he know...I will let him know what I found out about it. I really am doing better now then I was not on the treatment. Thank you for your input. Hope you have a great day night.
Is there an easy way to come off methadone?
I have been on methadone for over three years now. When I started taking it no one really explained to me that it would be hard to come off of. I started to detox three milegrams a week. I went from 100 to 40 and then stopped coming down because I was starting to crave drugs again. I haven't went down anymore in over two months now. I want to start again but I've been told that it's going to make me really sick for a long time no matter how slow I go. I really want off this stuff. It cost me $435 a month. Plus I'm tired of needing a chemical just to feel like a normal human being. I can't always come up with the money to dose and on the days I miss I feel pretty crappy. Is there anything out there that can help with the physical withdraws? I don't want to be on methadone for the rest of my life and I know I can't just stop taking it. I don't want to be sick.
What are the effects of methadone on a non-heroin user?

I need a QUICK answer. Does Marijuana help Methadone withdrawal symptoms?
My sister is addicted to meth, but goes to the clinic. She missed it today and yesterday and wants me to give her money for meth and she said she's going to rehab soon. I haven't answered her back, but I refuse to give her any money for more meth. I'd give her weed though if that could help her. She said she is throwing up and that she feels really bad. I don't mess with any other drugs so I'm not sure if a gram of weed could help her until she gets to the clinic tomorrow morning.Nothing wrong with weed. There is a lot wrong with methadone. So if trading meth for weed helps her then that would be the best option. I'm not getting into the right and wrong of marijuana, but it's better than meth any day.And she wants $60 and there's no way I would give her that much. I refuse to give her any money to buy meth.

Help with detoxing from Methadone?
I am in a methadone program due to long term pain from cancer now " cured" in which I was taking high doses of narcotic pain killers. I have no problems with any of that. It was what was needed. Now, I am on methadone as it is a very effective painkiller which I still need but my goal is to have my doctor ween me off over the course of a year I didn't " get here" overnight...I" m not gonna get clean overnight. There is no shame, at all, in taking prescribed medication for a very serious illness but I want to get off the painkillers as much as possible . It's unreasonble to think that this is going to go fast. Also, again, no shame...one wouldn't tell a diabetic that they need to not be dependent upon insulin, right? Pain slows healing, increases stress, which can also as we all know kill you. I am on 30 mgs. day of Methadone I have already decreased, over the course of 3 months, from 35mgs my max dosage . What would be a good, slow & steady rate, to drop? I am giving myself six months, if possible. Thanks
