Question: I am in a methadone clinic, slip up?
(Posted by: BB on 2009-02-14 02:24:01)
I have been on 80 for about 5 days now and asked them to up me. But I have been taking other methadone on the side. I take about 40mg on the side in addition to the 80. So how do I get of the extra and then after will the 80 still work or will I have withdrawals? I am so confused. Is there someone I can call? I don't know if I want to call my clinic. What action will they take if I tell them I have been taking some for just a few days give or take? I have only been in the program for less than 20 days. |

You ask me a question but cut off any way for me to respond? I can't answer you unless you allow e mail or add me as a friend or write my personal e mail at liloleme33@gmail.com But you should be fine tomorrow. You have not done anything that can't be undone...You will reach a stable dose. That dose is different for everyone so it makes sense that if it takes a higher dose for you and they have to slowly increase everyones dose that it would take you longer to get to your stable dose than someone at say 80mg. Believe it or not for some it takes in upwards of 300-500mg. or many clinics their average is around 220mg. I have cancer and am a "big " girl but do fine on 85mg. It is just different for everyone. you'll get there. Oh, when you think you have reached your dose though let it ride a few days to make sure. K? |

Its very possible that you will have withdrawl symptoms for a few days, up to a week or so. It shouldn't be that bad. Honestly you should tell the clinic, but sadly they might kick you out. It depends on the rules. You could try calling and not giving your name. Or maybe going to or calling a different clinic to see what they have to say. |

Oh man, I wish you luck. Methadone withdrawal isn't as powerful as heroin, but it lasts for so much longer. I would really not recommend taking methadone in the first place. |

Obviously you have a drug addiction already. You need to talk to your counselor or your doc about you taking extra Methadone and see if they can increase you dose.I think you might have with drawl symptoms because your are taking more than what they are thinking.Tell them the truth and and see if they can help you. Good luck and I wish you the best! |
