Should I stop my methadone treatment, your advice would be greatly appreciated?
Here is the thing, I am an ex drug addict, I was a pretty bad user, started pills when I was 18 from a chronic pain condition called endometrosis but I have been sober or clean from heroin and pills for 2 years about....I got on methadone treatment about 2 years ago. I am living with my friend who is into natural medicine and is against methadone. I know that methadone causes some stuff like i heard it depletes the calcium in the bones over time, and it's REALLY hard to get off..I know I tried before. But I don't want to be on it for the rest of my life. I am 27 and I'm on 105mg a day.My roommate says I should get off because1. it prevents me from going living anywhere that doesn't have a methadone clinic nearby.2. I have to go almost everyday to the clinic.. I'm on phase 2 which means I can have 3 take outs a week, and I will be getting my phase 3 soon. 3. He's worried about the calcium thing.4. Also he thinks I will die from a liver thing or slow breathing in my sleep.Those are the main things he is worried about,but the things is..I have been on it for about 2 years and I have not had a dirty UA since getting on the methadone. It's has been helping me..Also it really is hard to get off.5. I had an EKG done and my QT levels are off....but my methadone doctor said he sent the results to a cardiologist and he said the heart waves on the paper looked fine...He called my primary and said it was alright...but it still makes me a little worried.I have heard of this treatment called. Ibogain? It supposedly helps people get off opiates, and it addresses the withdrawal that would come with stopping it.I know I don't want to be on it forever but....it's helping me right now....what do you think?Thank you.Wow, thank you J Miller for your answer, you know alot about this subject..as should I. I have been reading up on it...but some of the sites I have been to are vague and say stuff that isn't necessarily true. My cousin is a drug addict and is on methadone treatments?
My cousin is a major drug addict and is trying to get off of heroine so they are giving her methadone treatments. My family was just told that my cousins money is running out now to still recieve her methadone injections and that if she doesnt get the money to still take her methadone treatments then she is going to die. I know nothing about drugs or understand any of it so if my cousin can not get the money to pay for her injections will she really die and why will this cause her too die? My mother is the one who told me this and dont know alot of information on all of this or why they say she could die from this so if someone knows any information on any of this please let me know. Im really worried about my cousin now so could this really be true? Could she really die?

I really want to get clean, Ive spent thousands and thousands on this crap in less than a year but I cant stop. A boyfriend got me into it and no one knows how much I do it.. I've been in treatment for 9 months and weened myself down to 5 mg per day, it was costing me right at 800.00 bucks a month to go due to the cost of gas to get there on a daily basis anyways I haven't been since monday...I'm very sick with flu like symptoms, body aches and irritable towards the world...I have already exploded on everyone in my home and on the verge of losing my family....is there any ways that i can overcome the irritably a little faster........these are the most terriable feelings I've ever encountered in my life I think.

Methadone treatment.. I have suffered from dibilitating pain frm spinal stenosis for 4 years now and I have?
been on Lortab 10's for the duration..it started with taking 2 a day and has gradually built up to 5 6 a day...I still have pain and I feel like lortab has taken over my life even though I know my pain is real..I went to a pain mngmt clinic and he suggested that I take 10 mg methadone..he said I will feel like a normal person again and not have withdrawls from the lortab but the methadone will relieve the pain as well. He said methadone when taken correctly is VERY effective and is a VERY misunderstood drug. I am also having injections to see if they will help. I am already on antidepressants and high blood pressure meds but he said that is ok..Frankly just the name SCARES the hell out of me and I was wondering if anyone has had success with methadone treatment????
