Question: My friend is a junkie and he is now on methadone?

Methadone saved my life, and it will save your friends life also if they use MMT as it is meant to be used. Methadone is way less brutal than suffering in your own personal hell of opiate addiction. which would guarantee them being a goner living the life of the vicious daily cycle. I wish your friend, all the best.

I would definitely convince him to go to rehab. that stuff is extremely brutal.

From what I gather, Methadone is the treatment for heroine addicts. They "wean " you off of it and eventually you are done. NOW, if you choose to "use " and do "done " at the same time, (which s0oo many do,) you will never be done with either. Can he beat it or is he a goner? THIS is the oldest question asked by addicts and all others in all of the world. It depends....has he reach his bottom? As long as he has "1 " more "high " in him, then he is a goner. How old is he? How long has he been using? Has he ever been in RESIDENTIAL treatment? Is he willing to go into residential treatment? Many factors, many, many factors.....hard to say .....

It depends on your friend. Methadone is not an ideal solution, but it is definitely safer than buying/ using heroin. Its intended use is to wean people off heroin, but it's still highly addictive. Your friend can probably function normally (hold a job, attend to responsibilities) while on methadone, but he may choose to use the patch indefinitely. Using methadone with a combination of counseling usually helps, but the effectiveness isn't guaranteed. Still worth a shot.
