Question: Methadone and heroin at the same time - is it happening that often?

I have a friend who has been drug addicted before. Or may be I should say he still is. He had taken all kind of drugs, but mostly heroin. In the last 4 years he's on methadone. But soon I found out he's still taking heroin. Not that often and not that much like before. But he's still taking it. He says that only 5- 10 % of the people who are on methadone are clean of any other drugs, most of them are still taking something else. When he doesn't take heroin for a while, he feels physically ill, tired and forget a lot. But is it normal for all people on methadone to still take drugs? Isn't it supposed the methadone to take away their desire of other drugs? And isn't dangerous for his physical health to take methadone and heroin at the same time? |
