Question: How to get off methadone?

Have taken methadone for pain for five years. What is the easy way to quit? Now I have the pain with an addiction. Thinking now I should have just lived with the pain. At least my mind would be clear.

You truly need professional help to get off methadone. go to your pcp--who can send you to a pain specialist. methadone is more difficult and more dangerous to quit than heroin. i work in health care and cannot believe that it is still prescibed for anyone--for any reason. suboxone is a newer opiod that does not hit the pleasure center in brain to that you don't feel drugged. best of luck to you.
