Opiates: Methadone Detox Facts

Question: I quit using heroin and other opiates 6 weeks ago, but i have an unexplained itching across my entire body...?

Is it possible that I am still detox- ing the drug? I have been tested and found negative for hepatitis and HIV/ AIDS. I do not have any lice or visible mites on my body. My entire body from scalp to toes itches almost non- stop. No amount of Benedryl, Claritin, oatmeal baths, skin creams, anti- itch lotions, etc. have helped. I've tried epsom salts, herbologists tinctures, powders, creams, lotions, hydrocortisone cream, gold bond anti- itch, monkey butt powder, lidocaine spray, Sarna anti- itch lotion and none of it helps to relieve the itching!!! Has anyone else had any problems like this? Could it possibly not be drug related at all? Or am I still ridding my body of toxins? Oh, I'm not looking to be judged for what I was using, as I've quit and am extremely proud of the fact. It was also a non- medical detox, as in I went cold turkey and haven't gone back to it once since I decided to quit.

It sounds to me like you are still detoxing which is really unfortunate for you. There isn't really much anybody can do for this but if you've managed to stay clean for 6 weeks then you're definitely strong enough to ride this out! Well done for giving up drugs and I hope the itching goes away soon!
