Pain Pill Addiction: Methadone Detox Facts

Question: Thanks for all the advice on pain pill addiction?

I have no family and his wont help, in denial. i cant contact his dr, hed be too furios. his family and my oldest son says i should just keep quiet when he talks to me. so i cant say any thing about the money or the moodiness. weve been married 26 years and they think i should just put up with it but being through lots of stuff before, i just cant take much more, what will it take to make him stop

I have been through a similar situation. My son's father is a heroin addict and his family is the same way. I finally had to take my son and walk away after 4 years of him in and out of rehab, interventions, fights. His family may be co-dependent or addicted to his addiction through enabling him to keep using. He will not stop until he is one, ready and two hits a bottom. Al-anon is a great resource and form of support. Al-anon is a group of people who have loved ones struggling with addiction. Since you don't have any family and his is unwilling to help, I think Al-anon could really help you. Good Luck

You cannot make anyone STOP if they do not want to. What you can do is take care of yourself - even if that means leaving him. You can only control yourself and your happiness. Try an Al-Anon meeting. I know he is not an alcoholic but Al-Anon meeting can help you to get the strength that you need to live your life happily and in control.
