Pain pills don't cause skin picking. They are usually opioids, which are "downers. " Vicodin, Oxycontin, heroin, morphine, and methadone are commonly abused opioids. People pick their skin as a nervous twitch. It commonly happens with "uppers, " like coke, speed, crack, or meth. ADD/ ADHD medications like Adderall and Ritalin are also uppers of the amphetamine family (like speed) that some people abuse. However, if a person is injecting drugs of any sort, the wounds can often become infected sores which will appear where ever they have injected the drugs. Usually that's on the arms, but once those veins collapse, an addict may move on to their groin, legs, neck, or even between their fingers and toes. |
