Rapid Detox: Methadone Detox Facts

Question: Does rapid detox work? what else does?

My sister's husband is trying to kick (for the third time) his addiction to Oxycontin and the one thing stopping him right now is his fear of with- drawls. He says it's worse than child birth (ha ha, when's the last time he gave birth?) There is supposed to be a way to detox rapidly and, although it's expensive, it supposedly works. First, has anyone tried it, and second, what kinds of things can you do at home that help you with the symptoms of with- drawl to make them either shorter or not so harsh?

If he has a long term addiction to oxy he needs medical intervention to get off successfully. I've had three kids and I've withdrawn from Oxy. Given a choice I'd give birth to another 11 lb son without the aid of an epidural. Seriously, I've done it and I'd do it again in a minute if the only alternative was withdrawal from oxy. It's not only the most painful thing I've endured, it goes on and on and on. It can last for a month before you get any relief and it's even longer before you really feel well again. I've had all sorts of painful medical episodes in my lifetime, I've given birth naturally, had TSS, compound fractures, meningitis, ovarian cancer and resulting surgery and chemo, I have RSD and at one time had an addiction to oxy. I have NEVER experienced anything else that is as bad as withdrawal from oxy. I've heard of great success with rapid detox, if he can afford it that would be what I'd suggest. At the very least he needs to see a doctor who assists addicts in getting clean, he'll need something to get him through this. It's a very rare person who can get off oxy without medical intervention of some kind. It's also not terribly safe, people have been known to have seisures, heart attack....it's serious stuff. I encourage everyone in the family to give this man their full support in his effort to get off the stuff. I guarantee you that none of you have any idea what he goes through.

Well I know several woman addicted to stuff that have withdrawn, and says it is 10 times worse than childbirth, and that time of the month times 100. I am hoping one of them will answer it right now for you, (We will wait and see what they got to say, it is worse than childbirth and out of a womans mouth) HE is going through HELL. And Oxy's are worse than heroin! I withdrew off an 80mg cut of 200mg daily dose of mmt it was hell. I would die before I would have to go through that again. You HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HE is going through. He is going to have to ride it out, wean, wean. and withdrawal is hell.
