If you stop taking both, you'll just go into full withdrawal, which I'm sure you understand is hell. I'm guessing you got both scripts off the street and not through prescription? If so, it makes it a little more difficult to detox properly. I was hooked on oxycontin and hydrocodone for 2-3 years and I tried withdrawing on my own and it never worked. I just ended up swapping from one drug to another. I even tried Methadone (which I was told would completely help me) but I just ended up hooked on it. I think the only proper way to help yourself is to go through some type of treatment. I tried getting into inpatient facilities but they said that snorting 160 mg of oxycontin a day wasn't considered a habit...shocker to me. But anyways, I was accepted into an outpatient facility and went through alot of therapy. I relapsed a couple of times but never for more than a day or two. I've been sober for 8 years and it is honestly the best feeling in the world to not have to rely on the pills to make me feel normal. If you think you can wean off by yourself, just cut down by a pill every 3 days. If you feel uncomfortable, take an extra pill that day, but that's where you're going to run into problems doing this on your own. Good luck. |
